Each facility’s performance is assessed against a tailored benchmark that reflects its specific mix of processes, products, and energy sources. The Aii Benchmark Calculator generates weighted average values for energy use (kWh/kg) and emissions (gCO₂e/kg), which are then compared to mathematically derived performance indicator targets representing “above benchmark," “meets benchmark,” and “below benchmark” levels.

Facilities can use these results to understand how their operation aligns with expected performance ranges. For vertical facilities, sub-department data can be used to identify which sub-processes perform above or below the benchmark.

The results provide an objective reference to track year-on-year progress and prioritize actions that deliver the greatest efficiency and emissions impact.
