A well-recognized brand and an American staple retailer, JCPenney has been around for more than a century, but the company is focusing on the future with its new sustainability efforts. As a partner in Aii’s Clean by Design (CbD) program, JCPenney is working to improve the wet processing activities in its Tier 2 production.

JCPenney supplier facilities in Pakistan and Vietnam have been enrolled in CbD, offering the opportunity to advance existing structures in ways that will have the most positive impact for sustainability. A second benefit of CbD is that it provides positive results for production costs too, so the suppliers will see a financial return for their environmental endeavors.

“We are pleased to see JCPenney take this leadership position by recognizing the serious environmental impacts of wet processing activities and joining our Clean by Design program,” said Aii President Lewis Perkins.
