CBD+ builds on Clean by Design. It’s suitable for mills that have already participated in energy efficiency programs as CbD+ goes further to explore more advanced and complex opportunities for energy reduction.

The Challenge

Before participating in CbD+ in 2022, the vertically integrated T2 mill (Shanghai Challenge Textile Co., Ltd) had already implemented several energy-saving projects. By assessing energy and water efficiency, the CBD+ team provided recommendations on high-efficiency energy utilization, gas supply system, steam production, smart garment-making and dyeing system optimization. By 2023, the mill had completed a total of 12 action measures, resulting in an annual reduction of 3,363 tCO2e, 39,820 GJ and water saving of 52,843 m3. The team also provided recommendations for the next 3-5 years to sustain the long-term benefits of emission reduction.
